An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale occurred in West Sumbawa and Bali on Thursday (06/09/2016) between 21:30 - 23:30.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the epicenter was located in the sea at a depth of 10 km, 286 km southwest of West Sumbawa, or 308 km southeast Bali.
The source of the earthquake is the movement of tectonic plates, the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate of Australia. The effects of the earthquake were felt for 3-4 seconds in the West Sumbawa and Bali region.
“Lack of tsunami potential,” commented the head of BNPB data centers and public relations. As a result of the earthquake, according to official sources, there were no casualties, and the damage was minimal.
