There are many bright, interesting and unusual ceremonies in Bali. Among them is the birth ceremony of a child. After the birth, while the new mother and baby are recovering, the midwife or husband performs the ceremony. After the husband has cut the umbilical cord, it is washed with river water and dried with a towel.
A small beautiful bag is put together, into which items associated with the future of the newbo child are placed. For example, parents want their child to become a master in the future, so they put nuts, a screwdriver, and a hammer in the bag. If a family dreams of a jou alist or writer, then they put a notebook with a pen, a book on the chosen craft.
A husband or midwife early in the mo ing goes behind the house where a young family lives and digs a hole. They bury the umbilical cord and sac, pray, and use incense to attract good spirits and scare away evil ones. After the ritual, the father and mother of the child are not allowed to appear in the kitchen for 3 days.
The ceremony of the birth of a child is most often kept secret and carried out without u
ecessary publicity. Locals believe that thanks to such rituals there will always be positive energy in the house and good spirits will protect the family.
