The best time to visit Bali is the dry season, April to October: su
y, warm (27–32°C), calmer seas and little rain — ideal for beaches, tours and volcano hikes. In short: if you want reliable weather, go in the dry season; if you want lower prices and fewer crowds, consider the shoulder months and the wet season.
Bali's two seasons
The island has just two seasons, with no real winter or summer:
- Dry season — April–October. Su
y, lower humidity, pleasant breezes. The best window for the beach and outdoor activities.
- Wet season — November–March. Hot and humid, with short but frequent downpours (usually in the afte oon). The wettest months are December and January.
Air temperature stays around 27–32°C all year — what really changes is the rainfall and humidity, not the heat.
When to go, by priority
- Best weather: July–August — but this is also peak season, with the most tourists and the highest prices for accommodation and flights. The New Year period is similar.
- Best balance (recommended): May, June, September and early October. The weather is still (or already) dry, with noticeably fewer people and lower prices.
- Budget and quiet: January–March. The cheapest time with almost no queues, but plan for rain.
What to consider by activity
- Beaches and sea: calmer, clearer water in the dry season; the wet season can bring swell and murkier water after downpours.
- Volcano hikes (Batur, Agung): sunrise treks are nicer and safer in the dry season — less slippery mud and less cloud at the summit.
- Tours and waterfalls: in the wet season waterfalls are fuller and the scenery greener, but roads and trails can be slippery.
2026 outlook
According to Indonesia's meteorology agency (BMKG), Bali's 2026 dry season may run longer and feel drier than average. The exact start and end of each season shift from year to year — check a current forecast before you travel.
In short
Want sun and outdoor activities with no compromises — April–October, ideally avoiding the July–August peak. Care more about price and quiet — the wet season, allowing for short daily showers.
