Broken Beach, also called Pasih Uug, is one of Nusa Penida's most unusual sights: an almost perfectly circular bay that looks carved out of the cliff, co
ected to the open ocean through a natural rock arch and tu
el. The formation was created by the collapse of a limestone sea cave and mille
ia of wave action; the bay is about 98 metres across. You don't go down to any sand here — Broken Beach is viewed from above, walking the loop path around the rim.
Why Visit
It's a rare natural feature: turquoise water flows into the round basin through a stone arch, beneath which you can often spot passing manta rays and turtles. Broken Beach is almost always seen together with neighbouring Angel's Billabong — they're a couple of minutes apart.
What You'll See
A walking path runs around the rim of the bay, with views of the "well," the arch and the open ocean.
- The stone arch — the tu
el through which the ocean fills the bay.
- Rays and turtles — often visible from above in the clear water below.
- There's no access down to the water: this is a viewpoint, not a swimming beach.

- The clifftop path is unfenced in places — keep well back from the edge.
- There's a paid entrance (shared with Angel's Billabong); warungs and parking are on site.
- Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and cash.
