Pengibul (Air Terjun Pengibul) is a multi-tiered cascade about 15 meters high with natural pools, hidden in the jungle of Bangli regency. It sits by the same Apuan village as neighboring Tibumana — locals sometimes call the pair the "Apuan waterfalls."

Why Visit

Pengibul's real value is the quiet: tour groups rarely make it here, so even in high season the water can be deserted. It's a place to sit by the cascade in peace, swim in a natural pool, and take photos with no crowd in the background.

The obvious move is to pair it with Tibumana: two waterfalls of completely different character a couple of minutes apart.

The Waterfall

Unlike Tibumana's even curtain, Pengibul steps down in several tiers, forming small pools among dark rock and greenery. The trail to it is easy and short. The water is cool, and the secluded setting makes it ideal for a relaxed break.

When to Visit and What to Know

  • Best time — mo ing, though thanks to its obscurity it stays quiet at almost any hour.
  • Swimming — bring a swimsuit and towel; the water is calmer in the dry season.
  • Footwear — the rocks by the water are slippery, so wear shoes with grip.
  • Tickets — there's a paid entrance to the grounds; bring cash.

Combine Your Trip

Pengibul is almost always visited together with neighboring Tibumana. The same part of central Bali holds the cave waterfall Tukad Cepung and the photogenic Kanto Lampo, and Ubud is about half an hour away.
