Sekumpul Waterfall

Sekumpul Waterfall (Air Terjun Sekumpul) is a majestic complex of seven cascades, widely celebrated as Bali's most beautiful and dramatic natural wonder. Plunging down a vertical drop of 80 meters into a deep, primeval jungle ravine in North Bali, it offers an awe-inspiring display of nature's power.

Key Highlights

  • The Grand Cluster — a collection of 7 distinct falls fed by different upstream mountain sources, varying in height and water volume.
  • The River Canyon — a lush, rocky valley floor with a clean river. Wading through the shallow river bed is required to reach the base of the main twin falls.
  • Postcard Viewpoints — several elevated platforms along the canyon rim offering panoramic views of the waterfall cluster emerging through the forest mist.

History & Legends

  • Sacred Wilde ess — for generations, the Sekumpul gorge has been revered by local villages as a sacred sanctuary, representing a spiritual bond between humanity and the water spirits of the forest.
  • Collection of Streams — the name "Sekumpul" translates directly to "collection" or "gathering" in Indonesian, describing the rare geological convergence of multiple independent waterfalls into a single canyon.

Did You Know?

  • The main falls drop 80 meters (260 feet), generating a continuous roar and a heavy, cooling mist that dampens the forest for up to 50 meters around the base.
  • Because the cascades are fed by separate springs, heavy rains can tu one stream muddy brown while the adjacent flow remains pristine and clear.
  • The spectacular Fiji Waterfall is located in the same valley, just a 10-minute hike away from the main Sekumpul pool.
