The Bukit is Bali's southe most tip, joined to the island by a narrow isthmus near the airport. Unlike the green centre, it's a dry limestone plateau with tall cliffs over the ocean, so most of its beaches are small coves reached by stairs down the rock.
The peninsula is best known for surfing: a chain of world-class breaks runs along the south-weste edge — Uluwatu, Padang-Padang, Bingin, Balangan. On the cliff at the very tip stands the sea temple Pura Luhur Uluwatu, with kecak dance performances at sunset.
Bukit isn't a single spot but a base with distinct characters: the wild surf west around Uluwatu, seafood grills on the sand in Jimbaran, and the calm, manicured resorts of Nusa Dua to the east. It works well as a southe base explored in separate day outings.
