Jimbaran is a quiet district on the western shore of the isthmus linking the Bukit Peninsula to the rest of Bali. Once a fishing village, it has grown into a low-key resort area: none of Kuta's bustle or Seminyak's glamour, but a calm bay with soft sand, the famous Kedonganan fish market and proximity to the airport that makes Jimbaran a convenient first or last stop.

Why Choose Jimbaran

Jimbaran is the "sweet spot" district: close enough to the airport to avoid hours on the road on your first and last day, yet quiet enough to feel like a holiday. The bay is sheltered and gently sloping — comfortable for families with children. In the evening the area comes alive: tables are set right on the sand and the day's catch is grilled over coconut-husk coals.

It suits couples looking for a romantic evening by the sea, families with small children (calm bay), and anyone landing late at night or flying out early.

What's in the District

• Kedonganan Fish Market — fishermen bring in the morning's catch. You can buy fish, prawns and squid and hand them to a nearby warung to be grilled. The market is "wet" — slippery, noisy, authentic.
• Resorts & hotels — from boutique villas to five-star properties such as Ayana, InterContinental and Four Seasons. Many sit on the hillside above the bay with sunset views.
• Pura Ulun Siwi Temple — a small local temple by the market where fishermen ask for blessings before setting out.
